Position                             Emergency Program Coordinator (EPC)
Hours of work                  40 hours per week
Reporting to                     Emergency Program Manager 
Location                            Sana’a
Duration                            One year renewable

Overall Responsibility 
The (EPC) will assist Islamic Relief Yemen (IRY) to improve overall emergency programme and projects and contribute to develop strategy emergence/disaster related program and strengthen its disaster preparedness capacity on people /communities most at risk through capacity building and organizational development activities. This will involve strengthening the capacity of the Islamic Relief at local as well as community based and local NGOs.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities
1.      To support and coordinate overall activities related to emergence program of IRY  
2.      Identify priorities for disaster preparedness through conduct assessment of prevailing/frequent disaster risks, vulnerabilities and capacities.
3.      Assist IRY and local partners in developing disaster preparedness programmers.
4.      Conduct in-depth analyses of the risks, vulnerabilities and capacities in high risk zones/in high risk communities.
5.      Assist IRY to develop regular training programmers and training materials that address major threats and appropriate prevention /coping mechanisms within the identified most vulnerable  parts of the population 
6.      In liaison with International Humanitarian department  (IRW) organize training programmers and develop training materials addressing disaster response related operational procedures 
7.      Establish links and work towards co-ordination and co-operation between Islamic Relief the government institutions, RC/RC, the UN bodies and the all others actors involved in disaster preparedness.
8.      Build the capacity of IR office and local partners to establish a fundraising strategy for disaster preparedness and in designing projects and reporting procedures.
9.      Produce regular, accurate and timely reports for the EPM and management.
10.  Establish a CBOs network to act as potential partners for Islamic Relief in case of disaster.
11.  Oversee implementation of seasonal programmers and IKD 
12.  To ensure all activities meet with and integrate with Islamic Relief‘s requirement for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and to be sensitive and understanding to the Islamic faith and culture.
13.  AOB required by management.

Job Specifications:
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
1.      Qualification in development studies or related area 
2.      Universal degree Experience of managing and supporting staff
3.      Four years experience of working for a humanitarian aid organization in a developing country in a development role.
4.      Experience with participatory assessment, programme planning and management techniques.
5.      Experience of writing progress and final reports and reporting to donors.
6.      Experience of risk mapping, Vulnerability & Capacity Assessment on a local level.
7.      Excellent oral and writing communication skills.
