Background:Islamic Relief lunched its Orphans & Child Welfare Program (OCWP) in Yemen, in April 2006 and to date has sponsored over 1200 orphans in Sana’a, Aden, Abyan, Lahj, Sa’ada and Taiz. The program focuses on alleviating poverty through a comprehensive child welfare program that focuses on sponsorship, promoting education, health care, social welfare and shelter. The orphans and child welfare  program is currently implementing  a new project in Taiz that aims to improve food intake and   children  School enrolment through  take home Food Provision . The project aims to target 1200 at risk children who are food insecure and are at high risk of dropping out of school.
Project officer for food distribution project TOR  Conduct a rapid needs assessment for selecting the schools that have the highest percentage of poor students through secondary data analysis. Provide a complete report of the work carried out, specifying the proposed school, names, poverty level and locationIdentifying  implementing partners when needed and organizing workshops and trainings as per the details of the projects documents Manage project resource allocation including budgets , human capital and other resources Determine the food distribution package & accordingly prepare procurement requests for good/services needed for the projects Conduct quality assurance activities  of the goods purchased and organize distribution process Monitor and report the progress of the project at each stage Implement and manage project changes and other interventions when needed Coordinate communications between IR and other partners as required by the project Review activities for compliance with IRY policies and procedures Ensure proper documentation for the project in different implementation phases including timesheets and photographing Develop nutrition awareness brochures in coordination with a nutrition specialist Present reports defining project progress , problems and other details as required and stipulated in the projects MOUs Perform other tasks as needed or requested by the OCWP Coordinator and related to the projects.

The Project Assistant needs to have:Bachelors in Social Science or related degreeAt least 3 years field work in implementing community projectsProficiency in written and spoken Arabic and English
Reporting:The Field officer will report directly to the Orphans and Child Welfare Program Coordinator
